THOMAS SYNNAMON MEETS FASHION FORWARD MEN
I have always thought that many models always possessed great potential at being amazing photographers, and after seeing Synnamon' portfolio, I find myself believing this even more.
Moving from Philadelphia to New York to be with a now former love interest, Thomas shares with Fashion Forward Men that he was always interested in photography. But being one who loves instant gratification, Synnamon didn't try his hand at the craft immediately. Spending endless hours in a dark room would have probably driven him nuts, and due to the tedious process, I can understand his apprehension. What many may not know about the photographer is that before this career, he was a model. Though the image above reeks of mystery please take my word that Thomas himself is quite a looker. So in my opinion , this is a good thing. He had already started prepping for his next step in life whether he realized it or not.
Often times we hear that opposites attract, but in the case of this photographer, lets just say that beauty also recognizes beauty. No, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Thomas in person yet, but something tells me he also embodies a great deal of charm. So much so that he is able to go to agencies and select from the cream of the crop when it comes to shooting. But lets face it, in order for cream to rise to the top, it has to start at the bottom. With that being said, how does T.S. handle a newcomer that he is interested in, especially being that he is well experienced in front of the lenses himself ?

"When they are new, I totally understand, and don't mind directing them. Its all about making them comfortable, and allow them to have fun. Although having to step in continuously slows things down, and the flow is then broken" he explains.
Working as a photographer for almost 10 years now, Synnamon's work has been seen on:
and so many times on http://www.beautifulmag.eu one can lose count. Although most of his work has a studly yet fitness aesthetic, Synnamon tells us that he wants to start incorporating more fashion related projects under his belt. Currently working on his second book to be published, the ambitious photographer says that he would also love to see his work in VMAN, F/Homme, and Mens Vogue magazines.
Living in the Big Apple, is almost like having the world at your finger tips. Drawing inspiration from people, places, and the flipping of several magazines may seem like dull sources, but looking up to icons such as Richard Avedon, Robert Mapplethorpe, Paolo Roversi, and Steven Klein adds a bit more clarity in helping us understand how T.S. sees things.
While having things there to motivate you may be great, sitting down to actually create it is another. Aware of this, Thomas explains that it can sometimes take weeks for him to get a crew together, even if the theme is there. Rushed projects normally show up in work, so I applaud his knowing how to take extra needed time. Once the day arrives, everything is already prepped and the studio has already been set.
The past three months have zipped by for me, and within those months, I have witnessed Thomas Synnamon, release more and more of his works- each one just as better as the last. For me personally I was flattered when the talented artist ask me to style some shoots for him, and being that I will be relocating back to New York in the next couple of months, I was more than eager to say yes. Stay tuned to FFM to learn about this venture and by all mean, please check out Synnamon's site.
